Patrick Head williams prediction 2008

After their fourth-place finish in last year’s constructors’ championship, Williams’ engineering director Patrick Head believes his team can go from strength to strength this season with regular top-three race finishes.

Lead driver Nico Rosberg, starting his third campaign with the team, will be joined by Japanese newcomer Kazuki Nakajima and it’s a youthful combination that Head thinks can bring Williams serious results.

“The driver line up will not be as experienced as might be expected for a team competing for a championship,” he said. “However, we intend to be regular podium visitors in 2008.”

The new FW30 has looked impressive in testing, prompting media speculation that Williams could be the leading team behind Ferrari and McLaren this year. However, Head insisted that this can only be judged after the opening race in Australia.

“It is too early to say where we will be in the pecking order,” he said. “It looks as if Ferrari and McLaren have made strong progress from 2007, BMW have a car that seems quick and Renault have made progress, I am sure some of which is coming from the cockpit with Alonso back at the helm.

Red Bull are beginning to look stronger and Toro Rosso are making the best of a car that they are familiar with, they certainly cannot be dismissed. We have certainly made progress, but we will not see where we stand until after the season starts.”

Williams scored one podium finish last year, a third place for Alex Wurz at the Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal.

New look williams 2008 lenovo power

With just ten days to go until the Australian Grand Prix gets underway in Melbourne, Williams have unveiled on their 2008 car's definitive race livery. The blue and white design will grace the Toyota-powered FW30 throughout the coming season.

The British squad ran a series of six commemorative liveries over the winter testing period to mark their 30-year Formula One anniversary

The special paint jobs included one which featured handwritten messages from each of the team’s seven world championship-winning drivers and another which bedecked the car with the statistical landmarks the squad will celebrate over the course of 2008.

Williams enjoyed a strong 2007 campaign, finishing fourth in the constructors' championship with 33 points. Their 2008 driver line-up again features Nico Rosberg, who is joined by new team mate Kazuki Nakajima and test driver Nico Hulkenberg.

Schumi back to ferrari

Seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher will return to testing action for Ferrari next week, when he participates in the team’s final pre-season test at Barcelona’s Circuit de Catalunya.

Schumacher, who last tested in late 2007, will join Kimi Raikkonen in Spain on Monday, as Ferrari begin a three-day session to finalise their on-track preparations for the coming season with their F2008 machine.

Meanwhile, Ferrari wound up their current Barcelona session on Friday, with Felipe Massa and official tester Luca Badoer carrying out a full race-weekend simulation, starting with the third free practice session, followed by the three qualifying sessions and the Grand Prix, along with all the relevant trackside procedures.

Massa successfully completed the simulation. Badoer, however, had to stop in the final race stint because of an oil leak. Massa ultimately completed 95 laps, with a best time of 1m 20.508s, while Badoer managed 75, his fastest a 1m 21.808s.

fuji circuit japan, promise better inprovement

Fuji the host of formula one in japan, in season 2008 this year promise a lot fix in her circuit, better inprovement.
a lot fix at transport and spectator facilities for attending fans this October, Fuji staged its first Grand Prix in three decades last year, and while the rain-soaked race proved one of the most thrilling of the season, the poor weather contributed to some visitors experiencing heavy delays entering and exiting the circuit.

Now, having learnt from their 2007 experience, Fuji Speedway have promised to resolve the problems with a newly-formed Formula One Project Planning Division, which will focus on guaranteeing a pleasurable spectator experience, both at and on the way to the track.

To ease traffic congestion and minimise environmental impact, fans will again be bussed to and from the circuit via a ‘ticket and ride’ scheme. However, additional buses will be laid on and a stand-by system will operate after the race, with buses gathering at the venue to await departing spectators. This is designed to cut waiting times and will allow fans to immediately board buses in case of inclement weather.

In addition, improvements to spectator facilities at Fuji will include large viewing screens, new lighting and broadcast equipment, better walkways, more convenient placement of temporary toilets, increased staff numbers, more thorough pre-event staff training, and greater information provision for fans.

The 2008 Japanese Grand Prix takes place on October 10-12. Attendance on race day is expected to be 110,000, with a total of 220,000 visitors predicted for the event.

History of formula one

Formula One
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Formula One, abbreviated to F1, is the highest class of defined by the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA), motor sport's world governing body. The "formula" in the name is a set of rules which all participants and cars must meet. The F1 world championship season consists of a series of races, known as Grands Prix, held usually on purpose-built circuits, and in a few cases on closed city streets. The results of each race are combined to determine two annual World Championships, one for drivers and one for constructors.

It is a massive television event, with millions of people watching each race in two hundred countries. The cars race at high speeds, often greater than 320 km/h (200 mph), and are capable of pulling up to 5g in some corners. The performance of the cars is highly dependent on electronics, aerodynamics, suspension and tyres. The formula has seen many evolutions and changes through the history of the sport.

Europe is Formula One's traditional centre and remains its leading market. However, Grands Prix are held all over the world and, with new races in Bahrain, China, Malaysia, Turkey and the United States since 1999, its scope continues to expand with Singapore scheduled to hold the first night race in 2008 and India being added to the schedule starting in 2010. Of the seventeen races in 2007, nine are outside Europe. As the world's most expensive sport, its economic effect is significant, and its financial and political battles are widely observed. Its high profile and popularity makes it an obvious merchandising environment, which leads to very high investments from sponsors, translating into extremely high budgets for the constructor teams. In recent years several teams have gone bankrupt or been bought out by other companies.

The sport is regulated by the FIA. Formula One's commercial rights are vested in the Formula One Group.

The Formula One series has its roots in the European Grand Prix Motor Racing (q.v. for pre-1947 history) of the 1920s and 1930s. The "formula" is a set of rules which all participants and cars must meet. Formula One was a new formula agreed after World War II in 1946, with the first non-championship races being held that year. A number of Grand Prix racing organisations had laid out rules for a World Championship before the war, but due to the suspension of racing during the conflict, the World Drivers' Championship was not formalised until 1947. The first world championship race was held at Silverstone, United Kingdom in 1950. A championship for constructors followed in 1958. National championships existed in South Africa and the UK in the 1960s and 1970s. Non-championship Formula One races were held for many years but, due to the rising cost of competition, the last of these occurred in 1983.

The sport's title, Formula One, indicates that it is intended to be the most advanced and most competitive of the many racing formulae.[citation needed]
